Cayden Ryman, 8, of Front Royal, will join outstanding elementary school students from across the state this summer to take part in the National Youth Leadership Forum-Pathways to STEM, taking place in Washington, D.C.
The program is one of the Envision by WorldStrides family of programs that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom.
Cayden was nominated to attend the forum by his third-grade teacher at E. Wilson Elementary. With dreams of being a scientist, he will also discover how to program a robot and learn about detective work and crime scene investigation to solve a case.
Dominion Ridge Academy
Detra Tutton has been named the new principal at Dominion Ridge Academy in Front Royal and Carrie Hill has been named vice principal.
Tutton brings over 20 years of experience in education to her new position with prior roles as elementary, middle and high-school teacher as well as dean of instruction at the school. Her background includes interdisciplinary studies, curriculum management and neurodiversity. She received a bachelor’s degree with distinction from Bridgewater College in English and education with a minor in theater and speech. She earned a master’s degree in education with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction from Regent University.
Hill, who developed the executive functions therapy program and taught students study skills and strategies for higher level thinking for the past four years, holds a bachelor’s degree in educational management from Ashford University and a master’s degree in education with a concentration in special education from Regent University. She is currently studying for an educational specialist degree in Christian leadership with a concentration in educational technology and online learning. She is also a licensed educational therapist.
Lorraine Hewitt remains as Head of School, focusing her time on the Center for Cognitive Formation. Dominion Ridge Academy is formerly known as Front Royal Christian School.
