Science It Works

Sci Fi Book Review – Future History

If you love science fiction and you have not read Heinlein, then let me recommend an excellent book to you, it’s one of many in a series of classics by this historical Sci Fi author. The book is:

“Methuselah’s Children” by Robert Heinlein; Baen Book Publishers, New York, NY; 1958. ISBN: 0-671-65597-3.

Robert Heinlein has always been considered one of the top science fiction authors in history, and he was an extremely prolific author, and although not as prolific as Isaac Asmiov let’s say, he still made his mark on the science fiction community.

In this story Lazarus Long and other family members appear on the scene after the fall and revolutionary unrest of his book 2100. In this book America once again stands for something much like in the time of our Founding Fathers, but all this changes as everyone finds out about ultra-long life spans of a few. Now everyone wants to know the secret of their genetics and will do nothing to stop from finding out how they are able to live that long.

Of course, in the end they escape from the planet to get away from the insanity all this has caused. While traveling in space they meet all kinds of intelligent beings and our author goes into detail about these meetings and how they are able to travel so far and so fast through the Galaxy. I’d recommend this book to you if you are a fan of Robert Heinlein, but if not and if you like science fiction then you owe it to yourself to check it out anyway. Please consider this.
